Rolex 24: No. 14 Lexus RC F out after crash

After suffering the first hard impact during the 55th Rolex 24 at Daytona, the No. 14 Lexus RC F has been forced to withdraw after its chassis damage was judged to be too severe to repair at the track.

Veteran Scott Pruett spun exiting Turn 1 in close proximity to the Corvette Racing C7.Rs, which the five-time winner said was caused by a tap from behind.

"I got nudged," a frustrated Pruett told RACER. "I was just riding around minding my own business and got hit."

The spin turned the V8-engined Lexus hard into the inside wall, which smashed the left-front corner and smashed most of the bodywork at the front of the 3GT-run machine.

Just two hours in, a litany of mechanical and electrical woes have paused or stopped the race for a surprisingly high number of cars. Once the 3GT team stripped the front of the stricken No. 14 Lexus, it determined repairs couldn't be made.
