Joao Barbosa took over where teammate Christian Fittipaldi left off, leading the No. 5 Action Express Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi in Thursday’s second IMSA WeatherTech Championship practice for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Barbosa’s best lap of 1m38.549s in the 30-minute session was 0.353s behind his teammate’s best lap from the morning practice, which ran for one hour.

Cadillacs were again 1-2-3 – in the same order – with Ricky Taylor (1m38.726s) in the No. 10 and Dane Cameron (1m40.132s) in the No. 31.

There was a red flag with four minutes remaining for a pair of incidents. Loic Duval contacted the barrier exiting Turn 1 of the 3.56-mile circuit in the No. 81 Dragonspeed Oreca (fourth fastest at 1m40.511s), while Johannes van Overbeek pulled off entering the backstraight in the No. 22 ESM Nissan DPi.

Pla was fastest for the second straight session in GTLM, running 1m44.245 in the No. 68 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT. He was followed by Toni Vilander (1m44.533s) in the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE.

Johnny Mowlem (1m44.175s) led PC in the No. 26 BAR1 Motorsports Oreca FLM09. Patrick Lindsey (1m47.135s) was fastest in GTD in the No. 73 Porsche 911 GT3 R, besting Alessandro Pier Guidi in the No. 51 Spirit of Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 by 0.059s.
