INDYCAR: Phillips named AJ Foyt Racing's technical director

Former IndyCar vice president of technology and longtime engineer Will Phillips has been named AJ Foyt Racing's technical director and race engineer for Carlos Munoz's No. 14 ABC Supply Chevrolet.

"I'm really looking forward to the 2017 season," AJ Foyt said. "We have two young drivers in Carlos Munoz and Conor Daly, and our new technical director Will Phillips, and we went back home to Chevrolet. I've been fortunate enough to win races with Chevrolet through the years and I just think we're putting a winning team back together. I think you'll see AJ Foyt Racing back in the winning column."

His past roles including engineering director for 2010 LMP championship-winning Patron Highcroft Racing in the American Le Mans Series and serving as a race engineer with IndyCar drivers Danny Sullivan, Scott Sharp, Alex Tagliani and Ryan Hunter-Reay. He also was responsible for the design, development and delivery of the Reynard 02S sports car.
