FE: $1m Vegas eRace set for Saturday

Formula E provided a glimpse of its fully-electric single-seater in action along the Las Vegas Strip ahead of the Visa Vegas eRace on Saturday, Jan. 7.

The all-electric Formula E car arrived in convoy with the Qualcomm Safety Car – the BMW i8 – and the new Jaguar I-PACE Concept on its first public demonstration, in the hands of Sam Bird (DS Virgin Racing), Antonio Felix da Costa (Andretti Formula E) and Mitch Evans (Panasonic Jaguar Racing).

Almost three years after the Spark-Renault SRT_01E made its debut in Las Vegas, all 20 Formula E drivers and 10 sim racers will test their skills on a bespoke track, incorporating the famous Las Vegas Strip, for the opportunity to win a share of $1 million – the biggest prize in eSports racing history.

The ground-breaking Visa Vegas eRace is taking place at The Venetian Hotel as part of Sports Business Innovation at 7:00 p.m. ET on the 50th edition of CES on Saturday. It's the richest race in the history of sim racing, with every driver guaranteed at least $20,000 and the winner bagging a whopping $200,000.

The race will be broadcast live across the world at www.twitch.tv, and the live link will also be shared on www.fiaformulae.com.

Formula E returns to U.S. soil for the inaugural running of the New York City ePrix on July 15 and 16, against the backdrop of Lower Manhattan on the purpose-built Brooklyn street circuit.
