Formula Ford racing's 50th anniversary to be celebrated at Summit Point
Vintage Racer Group VRG and the Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series will celebrate the worldwide 50th anniversary of Formula Ford racing during the 2017 Jefferson 500.
From the first Lotus 31 to the latest FF, all racers, engines (Ford and Honda) and tires are welcome to participate on the Summit Point Raceway (West Virginia) main course on May 18-21.
Registration is now open; entries are limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. About 100 spots are reserved for the Royale Formula Ford Challenge 50th Celebration. VRG will designate specific paddock space for all the Formula Ford entrants. Bob Woodman Tires (Hoosier Dealer) will be in attendance, and gas is available in the paddock.
There will be a free open practice day for all those who register under the "early bird" model; registrants can choose one of three hour-long practice times. During the race weekend, there will be dedicated run groups as well as feature races, bringing fans at least 2 ½ hours of track activity.
Additional activities include a free paddock barbecue on Friday night hosted by the Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series, with a special meet-and-greet with racer Brian Redman; music, race videos on the big screen and plenty of good food and drink. On Saturday night, VRG hosts a dinner where Redman will "regale tales of daring deeds" accomplished in the era of the world’s most dangerous formula and sports racing cars.
