WEC: The Audi LMP1 that will never be

Sports car fans will suffer another pang from Audi's surprise exit from the World Endurance Championship following the release of these images of a scale model of what would have been the 2017 version of the company's R18 LMP1 prototype.

Audi's former LMP1 drivers Filipe Albuquerque, Oliver Jarvis and Loic Duval posted images of the model on social media following its appperance at a company holiday banquet where Audi's epic 18-year-run in prototype racing was celebrated. The model hints at aerodynamic tweaks that would have been made for next season, including additional fairing around the front wheels.
