Now officially confirmed by the team
. -Ed.)The 25-year-old Brit spent his rookie season with Ganassi in 2016, and it was assumed he would return to the No. 8 Dallara-Honda sponsored by Gallagher Financial. Chilton, who spent two years in Formula 1, had three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti as his full-time coach and produced some promising runs but finished a disappointing 19th in the Verizon series standings.
Chilton's best performance turned out to be his second race and oval-track debut at Phoenix, where he qualified eighth and finished seventh after running in the lead pack all evening.
His other top-10 finish came at Watkins Glen where he qualified sixth and finished 10th. He also qualified seventh at Road America.
is set to test Friday
at Sebring International Raceway's short course.Latest News
