MOTOGP: Pedrosa back from injury for Valencia finale

Honda MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa will return from injury in this weekend's Valencia finale.

Pedrosa broke his right collarbone in four places and fractured his right fibula in a crash during practice for the Japanese Grand Prix on Oct. 14. He returned to Barcelona and underwent surgery that weekend, and missed all three of MotoGP's subsequent races.

A Valencia return was Pedrosa's target rather than a certainty as he regained fitness, but he has now been cleared to ride.

"These past three weeks haven't been easy because of the pain, especially immediately after the operation, and also because I missed racing at some of my favorite tracks," Pedrosa said. "Anyway, after I started with my rehab, things began getting better day-by-day, and the thought of trying to recover in time for Valencia was a boost that helped during the tougher moments.

"We're still not sure about how I'll feel on the bike, but anyway I'm happy to be able to get back to racing. I love the Valencia track, I have fantastic memories here and I like the idea of getting back to action in front of my fans."

One of this year's nine winners, after taking out the Aragon race in September, Pedrosa is sixth in the championship.

Teammate Marc Marquez secured the title with victory at Motegi on the weekend Pedrosa was injured, but he has crashed in each of the last two races.
