Newly crowned Formula V8 3.5 champion Tom Dillmann will return to the World Endurance Championship at this month’s Bahrain finale.
The Frenchman, who took LMP2 class honors with the Signatech Alpine squad at last season’s Shanghai round, will drive for the Extreme Speed Motorsports squad in the Ligier-Nissan JSP2 taken over by the Indonesian Jagonya Ayam driver scheme for the final three WEC rounds.
Dillmann secured the Formula V8 3.5 title with victory in the final race of the season at Barcelona on Sunday. The 27-year-old will share the car with Sean Gelael and Giedo van der Garde in the Bahrain event on Nov. 19.
Ex-Formula 1 driver and 2016 European Le Mans Series champion van der Garde is returning to the car he drove at the Fuji round in October (above).
Former WEC LMP2 title winner Julien Canal is scheduled to return to the series to race the British Manor team’s second P2 class ORECA-Nissan 05. Canal is set to share the car with Mexican Roberto Gonzalez, who was in the car last weekend in Shanghai, and a third driver that has yet to be announced.
