WEC: Stevens stays with G-Drive for Shanghai

Ex-Formula 1 driver Will Stevens will remain with World Endurance Championship LMP2 frontrunner G-Drive Racing for next month's Shanghai round.

The former Caterham and Manor F1 driver, who helped the Jota-run team gain its first class victory of the season at Fuji earlier this month, will again deputise for Rene Rast. Stevens will share the G-Drive ORECA-Nissan 05 with Alex Brundle and Roman Rusinov in China on Nov. 6.

Audi factory driver Rast missed the Japan trip to make his second start with the German manufacturer in the DTM and will skip a second round because his partner is due to give birth to their first child.

"I am really looking forward to following up our great result at Fuji with another positive result in China," said Stevens, who also raced with the team at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.

Jota partner Sam Hignett added: "We have found two gems in Rene and Will this season and are lucky that they have fitted in and been super quick from the first moment they sat in the car."

Rast is due to return to the G-Drive ORECA for the season finale at Bahrain two weeks after the Shanghai fixture.
