TV Ratings: Kansas, Dallas

It was a relatively quiet weekend for racing, but NASCAR at Kansas Speedway was front and center with both the Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series races airing live on NBC's broadcast network. The numbers will make for an interesting comparison next week, when

Cup's Talladega Chase race airs on NBCSN at the same time as F1's USGP on NBC

.

The Sprint Cup race from Kansas on Sunday scored a 2.1 overnight rating, averaging 3.5 million households. That was down from a 2.5/4.0m last year, also on NBC.

The Xfinity race, Saturday on NBC, scored a 0.98/1.4m, compared with a 0.67/971,000 last year when it aired on NBCSN.

NHRA Mello Yello drag racing was live again on FOX Sports 1 but continued to struggle live against NASCAR (and NFL football, of course). Sunday afternoon's eliminations from Dallas scored a 0.18 rating, averaging 291,000 household viewers. That's down from a 0.24/358,000 last year when it was delayed to prime time on ESPN2.

The FIA World Endurance Championship split coverage of Fuji's Six Hours on FOX Sports 1 and 2, with the audience peaking at 132,000 households on FS1.
