PWC profile: Parker Chase, Rookie of the Year

Pirelli World Challenge history was made earlier this month when 15-year-old Ginetta factory recognized driver Parker Chase was awarded the GTS Rookie of the Year award following the season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Chase entered Pirelli World Challenge GTS competition after just six months of sports car experience in a Spec Miata and very quickly demonstrated his natural racing ability by earning a second place finish during the season opener at Circuit of The Americas, his professional debut. With the support of Performance Motorsports Group and Ginetta Cars, Chase went on to achieve an impressive tally of three second-place, three third-place and a total of 10 top-five finishes in his No. 19 Alta Towers / Enertech Resources Ginetta G55 GT4.

Chase finished fourth place in GTS Driver’s Championship points.

Not only a competitor in GTS, Chase entered three rounds of SprintX competition and earned a third place finish at Utah Motorsports Campus with teammate and co-driver Harry Gottsacker.

“The Rookie of The Year award and fourth place in points is something I am really proud about considering my competition,” said Chase. “I was the newcomer up against multi-time champion Lawson Achenbach and guys with a lot more years of racing experience like this year’s champion Brett Sandberg, Jack Roush Jr. and Nate Stacy so to go out and run with them was really cool.

"The Ginetta G55 GT4 really proved itself this year as a highly competitive chassis. In the hands of Performance Motorsports Group, I was confident in the cars ability to perform at the highest level during every on-track session. Thanks to my Car Chief Hunter Wright, Coach and Spotter Tim Barber and of course Team Principal Stuart Robinson. Last but not least I can’t say thank you enough to all of my sponsors, Alta Towers, Enertech Resources and Viking Communications for their support and really believing in our effort this year. This is just the beginning, there is much more to come!”
