JDX Racing Closes out the GT3 Cup Season at Road Atlanta Claiming Fourth in Championship

LOVELAND, Colo. (Oct 9th, 2016) – The JDX Racing / Hertz Porsche returned to action last weekend with an opportunity to claim third in the GT3 Cup Platinum Championship in the season finale at Road Atlanta. The final rounds where challenging, however JDX and driver Ricardo Perez were able to claim fourth in the driver standings - as the team now begins to build on the 2017 campaign that lies ahead. Following the signing of Mexican sports car ace Ricardo Perez over the winter, the team achieved success early, as RPL claimed his first podium finish in his first career GT3 Cup start at Sebring International in March. The momentum continued as the JDX Racing pilot would string together three straight podium finishes in his first three races of the season - including two third place finishes at Laguna Seca. Race engineer Luke Goldenstein worked diligently with Ricardo to get him more comfortable with the Porsche GT3 cup car race by race. The two worked methodically round by round and Ricardo continued to improve his craft in only his first year driving a Porsche. RPL managed to claim 11 Top ten finishes, seven of those being in the Top five. That consistent performance kept Ricardo in reach of the drivers championship until the later rounds of the season. He continued to work just as hard throughout, claiming fourth in the overall Championship in his rookie season with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohoma. Perez commented, ”I would like to thank JDX Racing, Hertz and Telcel for the opportunity that they have given me this season. Everyone at JDX Racing worked really hard all season, and we made progress early and achieved some very good success. Racing is all about consistency and we had a fair amount of that for the majority of the season. This series was full of talent - I have to say this was the most talented group of drivers I have raced against in many years. The Porsche is a driver's car, and I've dedicated myself to perfecting the craft of driving this car and looking forward to returning in 2017 and improving on our results from this year." Team co-owner Jeremy Dale said, “This was the most competitive group of drivers we have seen in many seasons. Ricardo and Luke worked diligently on improving in each and every round this season. The entire team worked tirelessly all year to give Ricardo the best possible car - and I want to thank every team member for their focus and commitment throughout the 2016 season. Of course our participation would not be possible without the support of great partners, so I would also like to thank Hertz, Telcel, Porsche and Yokohoma for allowing us to compete in this great championship. The off-season will be short and we've already started to work on our 2017 campaign.” The green flag for the opening round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama 2017 race campaign is scheduled March 15 through March 18 at Sebring International Raceway.
