INDYCAR: de Silvestro open to Indy 500 drive
Simona de Silvestro remains open to the possibility of a one-off Indy 500 deal, despite having committed to a three-year Supercar program in Australia starting from 2017.
Interview: Why de Silvestro chose Supercars
The 28-year-old Swiss ended her full-time IndyCar career at the end of 2013 to pursue an opportunity in F1, although she returned to the Brickyard last year with Andretti. While all of her current focus is directed toward her transition to touring cars, she says that she'd be open to joining the Indy 500 grid again if an opportunity were to arise, provided that didn't clash with her existing commitments.

"If there wasn't a clash with the 500 it would be something I'd look at," she told RACER. "It's a possibility. Why not?
"I am really passionate about [IndyCar] and it's a car that really suits me. I think I could have done really well there, so it's definitely something that still feels unfinished."
Although Supercars is yet to release its 2017 calendar, the series has not recently held a race at the end of May. However, it does traditionally schedule an event on either the second or third weekend of the month, meaning that a clash with Indy qualifying could stand as an obstacle to any potential deal.
Since making her Indianapolis 500 debut in 2010, de Silvestro has logged five Indy apperances, with her best finish of 14th coming in that first start with HVM Racing.
