'F1 2016' set for mobile devices and Apple TV

The official Formula 1 game, "F1 2016," will be released for mobile devices and Apple TV later this year, it has been announced.

The game was released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC last month, featuring an overhaul for the series including a brand-new 10-season career mode. It is not yet clear how many of the features from the main version of the game will make it onto the mobile version, although developer Codemasters is promising "console quality visuals that you can play wherever you are".

The only other information available at this point is a rough release date of "Autumn 2016" and confirmation the game will feature all drivers, teams and circuits from the 2016 season.

Codemasters has confirmed the game will be a "paid app" available for Apple and Android devices, although it has not revealed if it will also feature in-app purchases.

The most recent officially-licenced mobile F1 games were both based on the 2012 season: "F1 Race Stars," which featured Mario Kart-style gameplay, and "F1 Challenge," which focused mainly on mini-games and only allowed for 12 cars on track at once.
