F1: FIA clears Magnussen to race at Monza

Renault Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen has been passed fit by the FIA to take part in this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

Magnussen crashed heavily on lap six of last Sunday's Belgian GP, but after undergoing tests and scans at a local hospital it was discovered he had sustained nothing more than a bruised ankle.

The 23-year-old Dane was released that evening and returned home to Denmark, where he underwent further medical tests without issues.

Magnussen, however, was still required to undergo a final exam with FIA medical delegate Jean-Charles Piette at Monza, which he has also now passed.

Magnussen will use a spare chassis for this weekend's race due to the damage sustained to the car from the accident at Spa Francorchamps.
