After showing strong pace and strength in the only back-to-back races on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule, Stevenson Motorsports scored its first podium result in the team’s new Audi machinery at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis drove the No. 6 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS to a second place finish. The brother No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS shared by Matt Bell and Lawson Aschenbach finished ninth.

STEVENSON MOTORSPORTS’ LIME ROCK HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Stevenson Motorsports finished fourth in its very first race at Lime Rock Park in 2006. The team fielded Johnny Stevenson, Vic Rice and Tommy Riggins in a Riggins Corvette.
  • The first Lime Rock podium for Stevenson Motorsports came in 2008 when Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell finished third in a Pontiac GXP.R.
  • Stevenson Motorsports first claimed victory at Lime Rock Park in 2011 with Robin Liddell and Jan Magnussen in a Camaro GT.R. The team followed that up with a repeat win in 2012 with Liddell and John Edwards.
  • The first Lime Rock Park podium for Stevenson Motorsports in Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competition was in 2013 when Matt Bell and John Edwards finished second. Bell and Andy Lally combined for third in the Camaro Z/28.R at Lime Rock Park the following year.
  • In all, Stevenson Motorsports has five podium results to its credit at Lime Rock Park – including two victories.
LIME ROCK REWIND: Last year, Stevenson Motorsports fielded two IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge entries. The No. 6 Camaro Z/28.R of Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell placed fourth while the brother No. 9 Camaro Z/28.R of Matt Bell and Lawson Aschenbach finished fifth.

DAVIS AND ASCHENBACH IN RECENT LIME ROCK ACTION: Both Andrew Davis and Lawson Aschenbach raced at Lime Rock Park in May as part of their World Challenge campaigns. Aschenbach picked up a victory and a fourth place finish driving a Camaro in the GTS event while Davis finished 13th and 10th in the GT races.

DRIVER QUOTES:
Andrew Davis, No. 6 Audi R8 LMS: "Lime Rock is a special circuit that holds a history that is rich in North American sports car racing. It's nestled in the most picturesque setting, but looks can be deceiving.  This short little circuit demands serious attention from the driver. The speeds are very high, and there is zero time to rest as lap times are well under the minute mark. Add the traffic associated with multi class racing, and it's understood why we call it the Bull Ring! We are carrying a good deal of positive momentum into this round after scoring our first podium of the season at Mosport. I'm feeling very confident in our No. 6 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS, and I'm looking forward to continuing our successful run at Lime Rock. I can't thank the Stevenson crew enough for the amazing effort put forth thus far this year. It's nice to be back up front and battling for proper results.”

Robin Liddell, No. 6 Audi R8 LMS: "We are all really excited to get back to Lime Rock after scoring a first podium finish for the Stevenson Motorsports Audi two weeks ago at Mosport. Everyone has worked so hard on the program since before Christmas and with the inevitable challenges of a new program and changes in staff it has been a tricky adaptation. Since Watkins Glen, we have been pretty strong and although we are still learning and improving we have shown that we can run with the best. I am certainly excited about Lime Rock which is a handling circuit and one that should play to the Audi's strengths."

Lawson Aschenbach, No. 9 Audi R8 LMS: “Lime Rock is the shortest and most unique track on the circuit. It creates close quarters racing which is usually action packed for the fans. Momentum is the key word with medium to high speed corners and setup is extremely important because you’ll need a car that’s fast from the beginning to the end of a stint. The team has just been stronger and stronger in each race and I’m very confident we will have a fast Audi this weekend.”

Matt Bell, No. 9 Audi R8 LMS: “I'm very interested to see how the Audi does at Lime Rock. It's a very short track, but the first and final corners really benefit downforce, which tends to be our car's major strength. We've been learning so much about our cars and how to make them better at each event. I have no doubt that we'll enter this event much stronger than the last few races. The No. 9 car has had really promising performance at Mosport and Watkins Glen, but we just haven’t quite been able to put the result together. Hopefully Lime Rock will be the place all the pieces fall together!”
