XFINITY: Piquet to make NASCAR return at Mid-Ohio

Nelson Piquet Jr will make his NASCAR return in the Xfinity Series race at Mid-Ohio next month.

The Brazilian will suit up for Biagi-DenBeste Racing, and said that he is looking forward to the opportunity.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be racing in Mid-Ohio next month," said Piquet. "NASCAR has been a huge part of my career and it is one of the best championships I've ever raced in. My first top tier NASCAR victory was at a road course, at Road America, and so I'm grateful to Biagi-DenBeste for giving me another road course opportunity. The Xfinity series is seriously competitive so I'm looking forward to getting there and seeing what we can do."

Piquet's last NASCAR appearance came in the Cup race at Watkins Glen in 2014, where he finished 26th. Along with his Road America Xfinity Series win in 2012, he is a two-time winner in Trucks. Since his last NASCAR outings he has been a regular in Formula E, raced at Le Mans and in the WEC with Rebellion, and has also made appearances in Indy Lights and Global RallyCross.
