A tractor-trailer belonging to Team Pelfrey has been recovered about 12 hours after it was stolen from the team’s Pompano Beach, Florida, headquarters, team manager Gary Neal told RACER. But the team is still waiting for law enforcement to release it so they can determine the safety of its contents.
The rig was stolen around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night and found about 12 hours later with its wheels missing, about 40 minutes away from the shop in the Everglades near Miami. Fortunately, no cars were inside, but the team is concerned about the parts and electronics that were housed inside. There are only a few days remaining before the team needs to leave for Toronto for the July 16-17 races on the streets of Toronto.
The team is coming off a successful weekend in Pro Mazda, with Wisconsin native Aaron Telitz sweeping both races to bounce back into contention for the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. In Indy Lights, newcomer Garett Grist made his Indy Lights debut and brought the car home in eighth and 10th in the two races.
Starworks Motorsport, which is located in the same region as Team Pelfrey, had its transporter stolen and subsequently recovered in February.
