LM24: Jeanette attempts to replace ill MacNeil
IMSA driver Cooper MacNeil is not expecting to partake in this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans after developing a fever overnight, according to his team. Veteran Gunnar Jeanette, who lapped in the GTE-Am No. 89 WeatherTech Racing Porsche to be prepared for such a scenario, is prepared to stand in for his fellow American, but the ACO, organizers of the Le Mans event, have initially denied the change. That decision has been appealed and a final decision is forthcoming.
"The WeatherTech Racing team had me come to the test so I would be eligible to drive in the race as a reserve driver," Jeannette said. "No one likes the circumstances, I hate it for Cooper, Le Mans is the highlight of every driver's year. I have been with the team all week and I am ready step in and drive."
