INDYCAR: NAPA to stay with Rossi for Detroit
A one-race deal at the Indy 500 for automotive parts retailer NAPA turned into the bargain of the century as Alexander Rossi took the blue and yellow machine to Victory Lane, and the company has signed on for two more tries this weekend for the doubleheader in Detroit.
"NAPA joined us just in time for the historic 100th Indy 500 and we couldn't have been more thrilled with being able to provide them the win," said team owner Michael Andretti. "It's great to see the partnership expand into a sponsorship for Alexander in Detroit and we hope to continue conversations and grow into an even larger relationship."
With his win in the No. 98 Honda on Sunday, Rossi has been propelled to sixth in the championship standings. The American rookie will have just one day to learn the street circuit on Belle Isle before IndyCar holds its first race at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, followed by the second race at the same time on Sunday.
