INDYCAR: Demand looking strong for Road America

It's a little over three weeks before IndyCar returns to Road America for the first time in nine years and track president George Bruggenthies likes what he sees.

"We just announced Kohler as our title sponsor and we're having to create additional spots for camping and motorhomes," he said in regards to the June 26 race. "It's been a nice steady demand but I have to say I kind of expected it."

The scenic, 4-mile road course had initially announced it was sold out of camping and motorhome spaces for the Kohler Grand Prix but by moving a little brush and removing a few old trees, more room has been added.

"People keep calling about camping or where they can stay and we're monitoring what rooms are available so they can call our 800-number," continued Bruggenthies.

The Kohler Company is one of America's oldest and largest privately held companies that manufacturers kitchen and bath products in addition to furniture, cabinetry, engines and power systems.

"We've got great history with Kohler from the June Sprints, to our vintage events to sponsoring the tunnel," said Bruggenthies. "It's important to have a good title sponsor but it's even better that it's a company so connected to this community and Wisconsin.

"Everything is going well. We spent $4.5 million on improvements including a new entrance. paddock shop and a new winner's circle so the fans can get up close. I think it's going to be a great return."
