INDY 500: A look back at 1995’s unified entry list

I love old Indy 500 entry lists.

By 1996, with CART and the IRL headed in two different directions with separate 500-mile events on May 26, the era of unified open-wheel racing had been lost. Both sides came together in 2008 when Champ Car failed to answer the bell, and we've been fortunate to have a single IndyCar Series to focus on since then.

It makes that final Indy 500 entry list from 1995, with many stars and cars of the era–not to mention some soon-to-be luminaries of the IRL–so fascinating to review. The car counts, the teams, the chassis, tire, and engine packages. It represents everything we hope to see at the Speedway in the near future.
