WEC: No. 66 Ford GT in hard crash at Spa

The No. 66 Ford GT driven by Stefan Mucke suffered a hard crash with just over an hour remaining in the Spa round of the World Endurance Championship.

Mucke had recently started his stint and was ascending to the top of the Eau Rouge climb when the car sustained a cut to the left-rear tire, causing it to lose control and spin hard into the left-side tire barrier.

The team radioed that Mucke had an unspecified leg injury. Ford Performance said that other than a "fair bit of brusing," he was otherwise unhurt.

The Chip Ganassi Racing entry had qualified 25th overall and fifth in the GTE Pro class with Mucke, Olivier Pla and Billy Johnson.

The results were much better for Ford sister's car, driven by Marino Franchitti, Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell, which gave Ford its first WEC podium with a second-place finish in class behind the Ferrari 488 GTE of Davide Rigon and Sam Bird.
