Rebel Rock Racing Pre-Mazda Raceway Report

The Rebel Rock Racing team takes to the track again this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the third round of the 2016 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season with their two Street Tuner (ST) class Porsche Caymans.  Following a strong start to the season for the team and driving tandem of Robin Liddell and Elliott Skeer, who share the #8 Urban Grid Porsche Cayman, they enter this weekend in fifth place in Team and Driver points standings respectfully.  The driver pairing is poised to keep the momentum going as they make their run towards the 2016 Championship.

Skeer states, “I feel that Rebel Rock have shown the pace needed to succeed so far this season. Frank, Tom, and Chris (Nott) have done a lot of great things with the program since Sebring, so I am feeling very confident about the possibilities heading into Laguna Seca. History show's this race being very successful to a certain manufacturer, but I feel that Robin and I can give them some strong competition! I enjoy this circuit, it has become a special place to me; I hope to continue the good Monterey vibes through the weekend!”

Robin Liddell knows there something left in the tank at Sebring and is eager to get the program back on the podium steps, “I’m really looking forward to Laguna Seca, as it's one of my favorite tracks on the calendar. The Rebel Rock Porsche Cayman is a great handling car and I'm sure it will be well suited to the twists and turns the circuit offers. We are excited to get back racing after the layoff and to make up for the disappointment at Sebring, so we are all very motivated and hoping we can get back into a podium position in California!"

This weekend the team will welcome back Tyler Stone in the #7 Buffalo Electric Supply/Handy Candy entry, having driven for the team in 2015, and sharing the car this weekend will be team and series newcomer Bryan Leonard.

“I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to rejoin Rebel Rock.  The team really seems to have the Caymans dialed in, and I cannot wait to get behind the wheel to see what we can do.  I’m obviously encouraged by the results the teams’ put in on the season so far, and confident we’ll have a good car under us this weekend.”  Stone continues, “It’s apparent new owners Frank (DePew) and Tom (FitzGerald) have had a significant impact on the program, and it’s pointed in the right direction.  I’m also really happy that we were able to work it out to have Bryan Leonard in the car, he’s a talented young driver, and new comer to the series that I think will do good things behind the wheel this weekend.”

About joining the team for the first time, Leonard states, "I'm absolutely ecstatic to be a part of the Rebel Rock program this weekend.  I was approached by Tyler Stone a few weeks ago about this race.  Everything came together just as planned thanks to John Kontos and his team at Handy Candy. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to Rebel Rock and Handy Candy for making this happen.  I’m also looking forward to meeting Robin (Liddell) and Elliot (Skeer) and learning as much as I can. I’m ready to get to work."
