INDYCAR: New engineer for Hawksworth

The first engineering change of the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season has taken place with Jack Hawksworth's No. 41 A.J. Foyt Racing Honda.

RACER has learned Dan Hobbs, who was recruited from Schmidt Peterson Motorsports during the offseason, will not engineer the car going forward. Foyt support engineer Daniele Cucchiaroni is expected to be promoted to the race engineer role starting this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.

Hawksworth is in his second year with the team, and has gotten off to a disappointing start after three rounds. A somewhat promising run to 11th at St. Petersburg was followed by a 19th at Phoenix and a last-place finish on Sunday at Long Beach. The 25-year-old Briton is next to last in the championship standings.
