WRC: New Citroen car begins testing

Citroen has begun testing its C3 WRC - the car it will use on its full-time return to next year's World Rally Championship.
The C3, which went through shakedown tests close to Paris last week, began gravel testing earlier this week. Britain's Kris Meeke drove the car, with Craig Breen expected to be behind the wheel later in the test. The pair and Stephane Lefebvre are splitting rallies in a partial, PH Sport-run Citroen program in the WRC this year, as the manufacturer focuses its efforts on its all-new challenger.
Meeke, Lefebvre and Khalid Al-Qassimi will contest its next event, Rally Portugal next month, before Breen returns in Meeke's place for Rally Poland.
Earlier this week, Volkswagen unveiled a computer-generated image of its 2017 Polo R WRC car.
While the new cars are expected to be the fastest ever seen in the WRC, there are growing concerns that they could be too fast, and provide an inadequate spectacle.
