Managing an MX-5 Portfolio

Matt Fassnacht literally wears two suits. During the work week, Matt is a serious suit-and-tie businessman – an analyst and portfolio manager at HHR Asset Management. On the weekends, he wears a racing suit as a Mazda competitor who manages a portfolio of MX-5 Miatas.As a young boy, cruising around his neighborhood on a homemade kart, he knew that one day he would be racing. To him, a special connection to the car and road was apparent. Knowing this, he refined his love for cars and began developing his craft on the famous curvy and hilly back roads of Lancaster County, Pa.

After learning on his own for a majority of his life, he took the next step by attending the Skip Barber MX-5 racing school. This opened his eyes to his first real racing experience and he was forever hooked. Shortly after the class, his passion blossomed and transformed to include several Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge races, SCCA Spec Miata and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge races – all in Mazdas. This year he is campaigning in his first full professional racing season with commitments with two different MX-5s in the Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires as well as the Pirelli World Challenge
