Scuderia Corsa Pre-Long Beach Report
It's a short drive from the Scuderia Corsa race shop in Los Angeles, as well as the team's affiliated dealerships in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and South Bay, to the seaside city of Long Beach. So at this weekend's Grand Prix of Long Beach, the drivers and crew of Scuderia Corsa will enjoy an overwhelming amount of support for the Ferraris that will compete on the temporary circuit of Long Beach.
The team has embarked on a North American Endurance Cup schedule in the IMSA United SportsCar Championship's GT-LeMans class for 2016. The no. 68 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GTE, which captured fourth position in the season-opening 24 Hours of Daytona, will also compete in select additional races this season. At Long Beach, the car will be driven by Alessandro Balzan and Daniel Serra. Balzan is a regular driver in the team's GT-Daytona class Ferrari which won at last month's 12 Hours of Sebring.
"I'm very excited to compete in the GT-LeMans class for the first time and to drive the no. 68 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GTE," said Balzan. "It's a big weekend for Scuderia Corsa because Long Beach is so close to three of its dealerships, and it's a big honor to be asked to share the car with Daniel. The level of competition from the other teams and drivers in GT-LeMans is very high and it is going to be a very challenging race. But this is part of the excitement and I know the Scuderia Corsa team will give us a Ferrari that can win. After winning at Sebring, it would be amazing to follow it up with another victory for Scuderia Corsa and Ferrari at Long Beach!"
The IMSA race from Long Beach will be shown live on Saturday, April 16 at 7:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 2, with a rebroadcast that night at 11:00 PM ET and again on Sunday, April 17th at 12:30 PM ET on FS1.
