Rebel Rock Racing Pre-Sebring Report
Coming off a very strong run at Daytona to start the season with a Pole Position and Third Place podium result, Rebel Rock Racing is wasting no time in capitalizing on their momentum. They are expanding to a third entry with the addition of the #6 Rock the Grid Porsche 997 in the Grand Sport (GS) class for team partners Jim Jonsin and Frank DePew. They also welcome new drivers to the team in the #7 Urban Grid Porsche Cayman in Sam Adams and Ian James, while continuing the strong run in the #8 Dirt Fish Porsche Cayman with drivers Elliott Skeer and Robin Liddell.
The “Rock the Grid” concert series, the longtime goal and vision of Grammy Award winning music producer and Rebel Rock Racing founder Jim Jonsin, debuts at Sebring International Raceway this weekend on Friday, March 18th at 7 p.m. Multi-platinum recording artist B.o.B. headlines the concert that also features Rebel Rock artists Leroy Sanchez and Alys Ffion.
“I'm thrilled to get back in the GS seat with my friend and co-owner of Rebel Rock Racing Frank DePew, we plan to give the field a run for their money. Tom, Chris and the guys have tested and prepared this car to run up front, it's on Frank and me to push as hard as we can and let the cards play out. I'm also looking forward to seeing Elliot Skeer and Robin Liddell tear it up coming off a Podium finish at Daytona, and want to welcome Sam and Ian to the team.”
Jonsin continues, “This particular race event is special to me as it's the first annual Rock The Grid event, it's been a long time coming, and we are all glad to see it come together at Sebring Friday night. I have to thank IMSA, Continental Tires, VP Race Fuels and Rebel Rock recording artist BOB, Leroy Sanchez, and Alys Ffion, for coming out to RTG with the fans at Sebring.”
After a stellar start to his career in the Skip Barber ranks, young Sam Adams makes his professional debut at Sebring in the #7 Urban Grid Cayman with veteran professional driver Ian James. Adams states, “I am very excited and thankful for the opportunity that I have to race at such a special track and on such a special weekend. I am really excited to learn as much as I can about endurance racing and hopefully use that knowledge to build off of in the future. I feel like I am well prepared for the race thanks to Skip Barber's instruction at that track over the past few years and I'd like to thank my parents and Rebel Rock Racing for giving me the chance to race.”
Drivers Elliott Skeer and Robin Liddell return in the #8 Dirt Fish Porsche Cayman following their pole position and podium finish at Daytona in Round 1. The duo made headlines with their pace all weekend and great battles on track during their run at Daytona, and look to continue that trend this week at Sebring. They currently reside in the third position in both the Team and Driver Points Standings with the first round of the season in the books.
Of the event Skeer states, “I'm really excited for this coming week at Sebring! I feel the Rebel Rock Porsche Cayman will be strong, and that another solid result is possible. I really enjoy Sebring, both Robin and I have had success there and I don't see why we can't add to that!”
