INDYCAR: Rahal slams 'brain dead' Munoz

Graham Rahal has slammed Carlos Munoz for causing a 10-car pile-up in the St Petersburg IndyCar opener, saying he "doesn't have a brain."

Andretti Autosport driver Munoz hit the rear of Rahal's car entering Turn 4 following a restart on lap 57. Munoz had been attempting to pass Charlie Kimball but only succeeded in spinning Rahal, and nearly half of the field were either caught up or delayed by the accident. Rahal eventually finished 16th, after losing a lap due to the incident.

"It's because Carlos Munoz doesn't have a brain," Rahal said. "That's as far as I can go.

"If you look at our times, and look at that last stint, we had one of the fastest cars today but what can you do when you get caught up in everybody else's mess. I was looking to have a good restart and Munoz was brain-dead as usual."

Rahal confronted Munoz on pitlane after the race, and while Munoz accepted responsibility for the incident, that did not appease the American driver.

"Dude, what was that?" he told Munoz. "You've got to use your head. You've been in this series long enough to know better than that."

Munoz crossed the line in eighth place.

"I ended up making a mistake trying to overtake Kimball, so we ended up crashing because of my move," he said. "It's racing and I apologize to all of those who were involved in that incident."
