WRC – LATVALA STREAKS AHEAD

With stage wins in each of the morning’s three stages, Latvala was able to extend his overnight lead and the Finn had little more than overheating brakes in the last stage to contend with. Ogier continues to fight hard but sweeping the road at the front of the field continues to hamper any challenge for victory. Sordo struggled to find a good rhythm early this morning, but the Spaniard then suffered with a broken fan and overheating engine, and also lost time with a spin in the second stage.

Mikkelsen has run without problems during the morning and has a comfortable gap to fifth-placed Mads Østberg, who overhauled Hayden Paddon when the Kiwi slowed with a broken rear toe arm. Ott Tanak continues to hold seventh and Martin Prokop eighth, the latter slowed by damaged steering in the final stage. Lorenzo Bertelli is ninth and Teemu Suninen continues to lead the FIA WRC 2 Championship category in 10th overall.

After re-joining under Rally 2 regulations, Thierry Neuville was again forced out following an accident in the second stage.
