INDY LIGHTS: Rosenqvist confirms move to Belardi

Reigning Formula 3 European champion and two-time Macau Grand Prix winner Felix Rosenqvist has switched to Indy Lights to continue hisopen-wheel career.

The 24-year-old Swede will compete with Belardi Auto Racing, the team with which he topped a two-day test at the Homestead road course last month. That came one month after Rosenqvist's first taste of Indy Lights, when he tested with Team Pelfrey at Palm Beach.

Rosenqvist, who will run an oval for the first time on Wednesday in the Phoenix test, joins Zach Veach at Belardi, which carried Gabby Chaves to the 2014 title.

"I'm really excited about racing in the U.S. this year with Belardi," said Rosenqvist. "Testing went very well and I got to grips with the car pretty much straight away. I like the way the team operates, and the racing seems a lot of fun with a wide variety of circuits and pure driving.

"Racing on this side of the world will be very different to what I'm used to, but a challenge I'm relishing."

Rosenqvist, who was bidding for a GP2 seat but fell short on budget, also hinted that a European program will be announced later this week. He has long been linked with a place in Mercedes' GT3 line-up.

"I've been overwhelmed by the interest people have shown in my situation over the winter," he said. "It's amazing to see that kind of support, and I'm happy to say that I'm perfectly pleased with the program we have managed to put together for this season.

"One thing is for sure – this will be my busiest year yet."
