DAYTONA 500: Overnight TV rating drops, still dominates weekend sports

The 2016 Daytona 500 earned a 6.1 overnight rating on FOX, which Sports Media Watch reports is down 16% from last year (7.3) but up 9% over 2014 (5.6), when coverage was delayed due to rain and also was up against the Winter Olympics.

Still, NASCAR's signature race was easily the top sports telecast of the weekend. By comparison, PGA golf scored a 2.8 overnight on CBS while the NBA national game on ABC scored a 2.7.
