INDY LIGHTS: Piedrahita joins Team Pelfrey

Team Pelfrey Indy Lights has signed Juan Piedrahita for the 2016 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season. 2016 will mark the Colombian native's third season in Indy Lights after previously competing with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and Belardi Auto Racing.

"Team Pelfrey has a rich history in fielding great Pro Mazda cars," said Piedrahita. "When I found out they would have an Indy Lights team, I knew they were going to be a top contender."

After the 2013 season, Piedrahita graduated from the Pro Mazda Championship to Indy Lights, capturing a pair of fifth-place finishes at Mid-Ohio and Sonoma. In 2015, Piedrahita finished with a career-best third place finish at Milwaukee.

Piedrahita, 23, joined Team Pelfrey because he wanted to join a powerhouse team with veteran leadership.

"Team Pelfrey Indy Lights has a quality staff with Gary [Neal] and Yves [Touron] taking care of the technical side; I'm very lucky to have the opportunity to join this team. I know Team Pelfrey will give me a very competitive car," continued Piedrahita. "I am ready to work hard to win."

Pawco, a company that makes innovative pet products in the United States, and Petrosur are the two major sponsors for Piedrahita.

"I'm very excited to have Pawco as a new partner for this season. I am happy to carry their paw logo on the car and join them in dog adoption campaigns. We also have Petrosur as a partner for one more year. They have been backing my career for more than ten years, and I am very grateful to have them one more year. I can't wait for the start of the season and the month of May, when we race at IMS for the Freedom 100."
