LM24: Carroll gets Gulf Porsche drive

Adam Carroll will make his World Endurance Championship debut this season as part of the entry that will return a Gulf Porsche to the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The 2008-'09 A1 Grand Prix champion will partner Porsche Supercup podium finisher Ben Barker and Gulf Racing team co-founder Mike Wainwright in a GTE Am class Porsche 991 RSR. It will mark the fourth year Carroll has raced for the team, which was formed in 2011 by Gulf enthusiasts Wainwright and Roald Goethe.

After a podium-finishing Blancpain Endurance campaign in 2013, Carroll and Wainwright finished fourth in the European Le Mans Series last season.

Barker joined Gulf at the end of 2015 having made select European Le Mans Series appearances in 2014.

Goethe has sporadically raced at Le Mans in a Gulf-liveried Aston Martin Vantage since 2011 but this will mark the first appearance in the French enduro for a Gulf-colored Porsche since 1971 (BELOW).

The Richard Attwood/Herbert Muller/Brian Redman Gulf entry completed a one-two that year behind the winning Martini-liveried car of Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep on the iconic 917K's final outing at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
