SAFEisFAST: Driver training expert Allen Berg is latest ‘Ask A Pro’

Driver training expert and former F1 racer Allen Berg is the latest online driving instructor for SAFEisFAST.com. Berg is currently the president and chief instructor at Allen Berg Racing Schools in California, where he and his team teach young aspiring drivers the fundamental skills needed to control a racecar, as well as numerous other valuable driving techniques.

Canadian Berg had a successful motor racing career, competing in Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula Atlantic, Sport Prototypes and Touring Cars. He began karting in 1978, winning the Tasman Formula Pacific Series, before making the switch to F3 in 1983.

Even though the season was to be dominated by Martin Brundle and Ayrton Senna, Berg was able to gain multiple podium places alongside his great racing rivals. Berg had a brief spell in F1, competing in nine races for team Osella in 1986. However, he was determined to remain a familiar figure in motor sport and moved on to various other series, becoming a driver, team owner, series administrator and driving coach.
