Morris secures Bentley British GT seat

GP3 Series racer Seb Morris will switch to the British GT Championship this year after signing to race a Bentley Continental GT3 with Team Parker Racing.

Welshman Morris will campaign Team Parker's first factory supported Continental alongside former GT4 division champion Rick Parfitt Jr this year. Drivers for Team Parker's second entry have yet to be revealed.

Morris finished 18th in the GP3 points last year after a difficult season with the Status GP team. The 20-year-old had options to continue in the series, but has instead opted for an early move to sportscars to pursue a different career path.

"This is a great development in my career," said Morris. "Hopefully this will prove to be the start of a fruitful career for me in GT racing and it's great to be associated with the 'Bentley Boys.'

"Whatever we did this year, I wanted to be in the best possible car to get back to winning ways and I'll definitely have that in British GT. Bentley obviously want to win, Parker want to win and I really want to win again – this is the perfect deal. Everyone is really energised and excited by this and I have a very good feeling about the partnership going forward."

Morris began his career in the Ginetta Junior Championship, winning the title in 2011 before racing in BRDC Formula 4 and Formula Renault in the UK and Europe.

"If you look at any of the top factory GT drivers they have all had single-seater experience at some point in their careers, and Seb has served his time in Formula Renault and GP3," team head Stuart Parker said.

"I've known Seb since his Ginetta Junior days and watched him race on the TOCA package and he has all of the qualities to make it as a top GT driver. Rick too has come on so much in recent years and showed a lot of potential last season. As a pairing they will be great for the championship as they're young, fast and full of potential."
