MOTOGP: Stoner to continue testing on Wednesday

Casey Stoner will continue to test for Ducati along with the rest of the MotoGP field for a second day at Sepang on Wednesday.

The 2007 and '11 world champion made his Ducati return in a private session at the Malaysian circuit on Saturday before joining the second day of official pre-season running on Tuesday. Although Ducati had initially said Stoner would do one of the three days of official testing, it has now said he will continue for another day.

On his first time sharing a track with the MotoGP field since his last race at Valencia in 2012, the Australian focussed on setup work on a Desmosedici GP15 while Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone used the 2016 version of the bike.

Stoner completed 45 laps and

set the ninth-best time

, one place behind Dovizioso, and was pleased with the work that he got through despite the interruption of a big crash for Loris Baz.

"It's been another good day today," he said. "Being on track with everybody else, with the good track conditions, gave us better indications of what we are feeling in comparison.

"We had a lot of different things to test, but unfortunately after Baz's crash we had to change tire compounds and retest everything.

"We went through a lot of the stack we had to do, and got some very positive input from the electronics, the engine braking, the clutch and in every aspect of the bike, together with a few things we can improve, and we gathered a lot of data to move forward from there."

Ducati has said there is currently no plan for Stoner to do any MotoGP races on a wild card basis this season.
