
NASCAR: Stewart hospitalized with back injury
Tony Stewart has been hospitalized with a back injury, according to a statement issued by his Stewart-Haas Racing team.
According to the SHR statement, Stewart was hurt in a non-racing accident Sunday afternoon and was transported to a hospital in an undisclosed location. The team added that Stewart is able to move all his extremities.
Stewart-Haas spokesperson Mike Arning added that an update on Stewart's condition "will be provided Thursday afternoon when more information is known."
Stewart, 44, is a three-time champion in NASCAR's top league and is entering his final full season as a driver for SHR in the Sprint Cup Series.
