F3: Jensen commits to second season

Danish Formula 3 ace Mikkel Jensen has committed to a second season with Mucke Motorsport in the F3 European Championship.

The Mercedes-supported 21-year-old, who scored one pole position and two podiums on his way to ninth in the points in his rookie F3 season, joins 15-year-old German David Beckmann in the Berlin-based Mucke team.

Jensen was in conversation with other Mercedes-powered teams over the winter. He tested with Hitech Grand Prix and also had a run with Van Amersfoort Racing on the final day of the pre-Christmas Valencia test.

Mucke boss Peter Mucke said: "Mikkel should be in contention for the title. We know him well, so we don't need time to get used to one another, and we will certainly be in a position to celebrate success."

While Hitech is now full, VAR still has one place available in its four-car line-up for 2016.

VAR team boss Frits van Amersfoort said: "We are still in negotiation with another driver for our fourth car, and we have good hopes."

Mucke has also tested Russian Formula 4 graduate Robert Shwartzman and 2015 F3 racer Matt Solomon, both of whom are understood to be still in the frame for a seat.
