One-Of-A-Kind Patterson Paintings Auctions Off For Austin Hatcher Foundation

Many sports car fans have marked January 30 – 31 on their calendars as the biggest sports weekend of the year. No, it’s not the Super Bowl. It’s the 54th running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona held at Daytona International Speedway. And this year, Continental Tire will kick off the 2016 IMSA season with a very special project.

The 13 original paintings, seen in the “Continental Tire Art by Bill Patterson” 2016 calendar, are being auctioned off to help fight pediatric cancer. Continental Tire has partnered with the Austin Hatcher Foundation to auction off the one-of-a-kind works with all proceeds going to the Foundation.

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children younger than 15 years (Stanton & Behrman, 2007). While the five-year survival rate was a mere 4% in the 1960’s (Mannix & Boergers, 2010), today the survival rate is approaching 90% (Askins & Moore, 2008) with 40% of childhood cancer survivors reporting neuropsychological late effects (Krull et. all., 2008). Therefore, families need to prepare for survival, and the challenges that come with it. This is where the Austin Hatcher Foundation helps.

The auction launches alongside the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener on January 30-31, 2016 to help in this noble fight. And Patterson will be in the Continental Tire fan zone area throughout the weekend signing autographs and demonstrating his work. If you’re at the track, stop by Friday, January 29 (10:00 – 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 – 12:45 p.m.); Saturday, January 30 (10:00 – 10:30 a.m. and 12:45 – 1:15 p.m.); or Sunday, January 31 (1:00 – 1:30 p.m.).

The original works are oil on canvas and measure 24 inches by 36 inches. Bids on the paintings can be submitted online at

www.hatcherfoundation.org/conti beginning January 29

, 2016 with the auction running through February 27, 2016. These paintings would make an exceptional addition to anyone’s motorsports collection while helping children and families across the U.S.!
