CRG-I Do Borrow Pre-Daytona Report

As the CRG-I Do Borrow team heads to Daytona this week for the start of the 2016 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series season, they will arrive with a great deal of confidence following their Top-5 finish in the 2015 season standings.  The team has been hard at work on their #44 I Do Borrow/A&C Properties Honda Civic Si, drivers Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler are both back, and the team is prepared to take the fight to the rest of the Street Tuner (ST) class starting Friday at the BMW Performance 200 at Daytona International Speedway.

“It’s been a long offseason, and after finishing fifth in points last season, we’re looking to get off to a good start.  Sarah and Owen are back for a fourth year driving together, and our Engineer Jim Haaser, Crew Chief Brian Buttler, and Richie Thrembly have all been on at least two years.”  Team Owner Joe Cattaneo continues, “It was a great team effort last year, and with the balance of performance adjustments to the (Porsche) Caymans and (Mazda) MX-5 for 2016, we feel the Honda should be even more competitive this year!”

Sarah echoes Joe’s enthusiasm as the season approaches; “After the amazing year Owen and I had in 2015, I couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity to drive with him for the 2016 season. Of the three years Owen and I have driven together we have finished in the top 5 in the championship twice and we expect nothing less for the 2016 season. We have such great people supporting us and are so blessed for everyone on the CRG - I Do Borrow team, without them we wouldn't be able to do what we do every race. Being the smallest team in the paddock we are more like a family and I'm truly grateful for that. We had a really good test at Daytona and can't wait to kick off at Daytona this week!!”

Trinkler always has the “team first” mentality, and would like nothing more than to achieve success for the people behind the program.  “As Joe and Sarah eluded to, we’re one of the smallest teams in the paddock, but also one of the hardest working.  I really want nothing more than to bring a Championship home for Joe, Sarah and all the guys on the team that put in so much time and effort.”

The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge BMW Performance 200 at Daytona kicks off with Practice on Wednesday, January 27th at 1:30 pm EST.  The green flag for the race drops at 1:45 pm EST on Friday, January 29th, 2016.  The race can be viewed live on IMSA.com, with tape delayed TV coverage on Fox Sports 1 on February 13th, 2016 at 8:30 am EST.
