IMSA: 'Daytona has always been a dream for me,' Rosenqvist says

Formula 3 European champion Felix Rosenqvist says he is excited about his debut in top-level sportscar racing at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with the Starworks Motorsport team.

Rosenqvist will join factory Mercedes GT driver Maro Engel, the German's 2015 Blancpain Endurance teammate Sean Johnston and Ferrari Challenge graduate Mark Kvamme for a one-off outing in Starworks' #88 PC class entry at the IMSA SportsCar Championship opener.

"Daytona has always been a dream for me to drive since I'd visited years ago," said Rosenqvist. "It will be something completely new for me, but I think it's the absolute best way to kick off the year.

"The race is so intense, and you really have to keep your eyes open all 24 hours."

Starworks is fielding two PC cars for the full IMSA season, with its primary #8 entry to be shared by Renger van der Zande and Alex Popow. IndyCar racer Jack Hawksworth and Canadian sportscar regular Chris Cumming join van der Zande and Popow for Daytona.
