NASCAR community rallies to support family of BK Racing crew chief after tragic car accident

Stephanie Rembert, the daughter of BK Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief Joe Williams, was killed Saturday in a car accident.

According to multiple reports, Rembert, a 25-year-old licensed nurse, was involved in a crash near Asheboro, N.C. then later airlifted to an area hospital where she passed away. In addition to her parents, she is survived by husband Joshua Rembert and children Jamie and Frankie Rembert.

The tragedy was described as "a freak car crash" by Roy Gangdal, a BK Racing team member who established an online fundraising campaign Sunday to support the family.

Williams served as crew chief for BK Racing's No. 23 Toyota, driven by J.J Yeley and Jeb Burton for the majority of 2015.
