IMSA: Bortolotti joins Paul Miller Lamborghini team for Daytona

Ex-Formula 2 champion Mirko Bortolotti will continue to race for Lamborghini until 2019. The 25-year-old, who raced for Lamborghini's factory Grasser team in last season's Blancpain Endurance Series, has agreed an extension to his deal with the Italian manufacturer for another four years.

Lamborghini motorsport boss Giorgio Sana said: "We are proud and happy to extend our agreement with Mirko and to benefit from his contribution to our motorsport programs in the medium and long terms."

The Italian's first engagement of 2016 will be to drive a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for the Paul Miller Racing team in the opening round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship at Daytona next month.

Bortolotti, who became a factory driver in 2015 after a year as part of Lamborghini's junior programme in its one-make Super Trofeo series, will also race in the BES and the Italian GT Championship with undisclosed Lamborghini customers teams.

Also on Lamborghini's books as factory drivers in 2016 are Fabio Babini, whose duties will include selected rounds of the British GT Championship with the Barwell team, Adrian Zaugg and Giovanni Venturini.

Lamborghini is not fielding a factory team in 2016 after a development season in the BES with a factory program run by the Austrian Grasser team this year. It is now concentrating on supporting customers who have purchased the Huracan GT3.
