AAR's "legwork" bears weight of historic SpaceX rocket test flight

Private rocket constructor SpaceX, founded by Tesla cars founder Elon Musk, celebrated a major breakthrough on Monday with the successful landing of the first Falcon 9 first stage at Landing Zone 1, formally Launch Complex 13, of Cape Canaveral. Falcon 9 is a two-stage rocket designed and manufactured by SpaceX for the reliable and safe transport of satellites and the company's own Dragon spacecraft into orbit. So, what's the racing connection? Key parts to the carbon fiber landing legs of the revolutionary rocket were made by Dan Gurney's All American Racers group, making the team behind the legendary Eagle racecars a force in 21st century space technology as well.
