DRIFIRE Renews Associate Sponsor Role with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing's IndyCar Series Team
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that after a successful first season of partnership, DRIFIRE®, a premiere provider and developer of high performance flame resistant fabrics and protective apparel to the military, industrial and racing markets, has renewed their role as an associate sponsor of the team’s Verizon IndyCar Series program for 2016.
Born on the battlefield, proven on the track and ready for work, DRIFIRE® high performance FR (flame resistant) offers protection where and when it matters most. Their 2015 partnership marked the company’s first with a racing team at any level and was a strategic move within motorsports for the brand. In 2016, DRIFIRE® will continue to provide high performance flame resistant baselayers to the Indy car team and highlight the program in their marketing efforts.
“Safety equipment is of utmost importance in racing and DRIFIRE® makes a product that is second to none,” said Bobby Rahal, co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with former CBS Late Show host David Letterman and Mi-Jack co-owner Mike Lanigan. “I am proud of what we were able to accomplish together last season and look forward to building on that success with DRIFIRE® both on track and off.”
"We’re honored to outfit and protect Graham and the entire Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing crew with our DRIFIRE PRIME baselayers,” said Darryl G. Schimeck, CEO of DRIFIRE®. “And we look forward to another year of partnership and a successful season."
RLL was a championship contender entering the season-finale of the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series with Graham Rahal, who was ranked a career-best second place entering the double-points race at Sonoma Raceway and the highest-ranked Honda-powered driver. He was in sixth place with nine laps to go but was hit from behind and ultimately finished 18th in the event and fourth overall in series standings. Rahal earned a series-high six podium finishes including wins at Auto Club Speedway and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in 2015.
As an additional testament to the quality of DRIFIRE®, their performance baselayers are also worn by the Holmatro Safety Team, industry leaders in motorsports safety. The Holmatro Safety Team continually evaluates the latest equipment and its on-track procedures and protocols in preparation for staffing all Verizon IndyCar Series events with a trauma physician, an orthopedic physician, two paramedics, 12 firefighters/EMTs and two registered nurses. Team personnel have an average of 20 years of experience in their respective areas.
The 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season begins on March 13 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and will be televised on ABC.
