NASCAR: Mears extends deal with Germain Racing

By

Veteran Casey Mears has signed a three-year contract extension with Germain Racing that will keep Mears in the team’s No. 13 Chevrolet through 2018. As part of the deal, GEICO also will remain as the team’s primary sponsor for the duration of the contract through 2018.

“This is great news for our Germain Racing team because everyone has worked so hard to build this GEICO program and people in the garage are taking notice of what we’re accomplishing,” Mears said. “GEICO is such a great partner and they not only support our team, but the sport in general, which makes me even prouder to have the opportunity to drive the GEICO Chevy. We appreciate their belief in us and have enjoyed our relationship with everyone at the corporate office, as well as the GEICO associates that we get to interface with each week at the racetrack.”

Mears – nephew of four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Rick Mears and the son of IndyCar and off-road veteran Roger Mears – has been the full-time driver since 2011 for the team owned by Bob Germain, whose family owns multiple car dealerships across the country. He has one top-five and five top-10 finishes with the team and is currently ranked 22nd in Sprint Cup points with two races remaining.
