TV Ratings: NASCAR Texas, Formula E Malaysia

Whether it was lingering momentum from the Martinsville mayhem or building interest as the Chase for the Sprint Cup reaches its climax, NASCAR had a uptick in ratings in Texas on Sunday. NBC's telecast scored a 2.6 overnight rating, its highest of the year to date and maintaining NBC's record of increases in overnight ratings over last year (when they aired on ESPN) for all four of its Cup races in 2015, according to SportsMediaWatch.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series race from Texas also scored well on NBC with a 1.4 overnight.

Also gaining from a broadcast-network boost – in its case with the additional benefit of an NFL game leading into the telecast – was the Formula E race from Putrajaya, Malaysia (PICTURED), which scored a 1.2 overnight rating for the replay on FOX Sunday afternoon – that's better than any F1 race scored this year on NBC (topped by a 1.1 for the

Monaco GP

). The live telecast of the FE race on FOX Sports 1 in the early morning netted 60,000 viewers.

The contentious showdown for the MotoGP title from Valencia averaged 130,000 viewers Sunday morning on FOX Sports 1.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Texas averaged 498,000 viewers Friday night on FOX Sports 1.
